Electroteks is the creation of the genius of one single man: B A C Abeywardana, or Abey, the founder and CEO. Having started as a Telecommunications Engineer with Sri Lanka Telecom after graduation in Electrical Engineering from University of Peradeniya / Sri Lanka, he rose to the rank of Chief Engineer within a few years. Abey subsequently created his own entrepreneurial space to give flight to his innovative skills and visionary dreams. His extensive knowledge and skills steer the company into the leading edge of technology with a degree of unparalleled confidence for a country like Sri Lanka. Indeed, Electroteks Global Networks is an excellent demonstration of his vision of how to get the maximum from modern technology with minimum human intervention.

Since its humble incorporation in 1983, Electroteks has pioneered many telecommunications developments in Sri Lanka for nearly two decades. At present Electroteks has one of the largest telecom infrastructures in Sri Lanka, with offices in USA, UK , India and Australia.

Now it has large capacity to take Voice, Internet and Video in and out of Sri Lanka and to link Asia to Europe. Electroteks Global Network expands from North America and Europe to Asia and Australia. Evolution

Incorporated in 1983, Electroteks went into Design and Manufacture of 1+1 local loop multiplexing units and Signaling conversion equipment in 1984. By 1997, over 15,000 units were installed island-wide. Commencing Design and Manufacture of TDM Telex multiplexers in 1986, the company won a contract to supply and commission the Telex Multiplex Systems to Sri Lanka Telecom. Electroteks was chosen from a worldwide tender where Siemens, Alcatel and NEC took part. Even to date about 80% of Sri Lanka's Telex system runs on Electroteks telex backbone equipment. Similar equipment was supplied to Bangladesh Telephone & Telegraph Board again after international competition with the above giant international players and many more.

Pioneering Radio data Link based automation of banking in 1988, Electroteks first linked three branches of Sampath Bank via radio link as a pilot project for their dream automated banking network. The success of the project initiated a process of banking automation via ATMs & Teller terminals - one of the first in South Asia. In 1990 Electroteks was recommended by a World Bank consulting committee to carry out a similar installation for Bank of Ceylon, the largest banking network in Sri Lanka.

The historical inclination of Sri Lankans to advanced technology goes back many thousand years. And even today what remains of such ancient technology wins the admiration of leading technologists and futurologists worldwide.
